No Doubt About It

What is doubt?  We use the word a lot, right?  Is he gonna show up?  I know him, and I doubt it.  Will the event start on time?  I doubt it.  Doubt:  To call into question the truth, to lack confidence in, to be uncertain.

At some time or another, we become doubtful.  Right now, during this writing, I’m doubtful about who will win this election.  I doubt that we’ll find out tonight (November 3rd); I even doubt that we’ll find out by Friday (November 5th).   We all are in doubt about when this Covid-19 virus will subside; if we’re wise, we’re doubting that anything will return back to the way things were….

Why am I talking about doubt so much?  I’d like to discuss the original application where doubt first came into existence.  Turn with me to Genesis 3.  As we start in verse 1, it reads: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.  He said to the woman, “Did God really say, “you must not eat from any tree in the garden?”  We know that Eve was very clear what God had commanded.  She recited to the serpent what God had said.  In verse 4, though, the serpent says “You will not certainly die”.

I would like to point out right here that this is where doubt was first introduced.  So many times, God tells us clearly what should be.  Just as frequently, the enemy will put doubt into our minds, and cause us to sin, separate ourselves from God.

Saints of God, we study God’s Word.  We study what He would have for us to do in our lives.  We have been privileged to know through His Word the promises He has proclaimed to us.  We say we know that He will never leave us or forsake us.  We know that we are the head and not the tail.  We know that those who call on the name of Jesus will be saved.  We know that God is our refuge and our strong tower, our shelter in the time of storm.  HOWEVER, in the midst of the storm, in the middle of the wilderness---do we really know?  Do we really trust God through all circumstances and situations?

People of God, I submit to you today for your consideration----don’t let the enemy but doubt into your hearts and minds.  I challenge us today to remember whose we are---remember who we serve.  We serve a God who is the same yesterday, today and forever more!  He does not change!  If He promised it, the promise will be fulfilled.  The minute we let doubt creep in---Houston, we have a problem.

I am encouraging all of us today to HAVE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!  No doubt about what?  That God loves you with an everlasting love.  He demonstrated that love by sacrificing Jesus for our sins.  James 1:6 says “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” I’d like to share that trust & doubt can’t exist together!

Is everything really gonna be alright?  Am I really healed? Will this Covid-19 virus ever go away?  Can I go out safely?  Will I get another job?  Will my bills get paid?   Did my vote really count?  If my candidate doesn’t win, is everything still gonna be alright?  Is God really still in control?  Let’s all examine our hearts and minds today, right now, and when it comes to who God is, and who He is in our lives----HAVE NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!   AMEN.
